Remedial exercise programmes are used to aid a quicker return to function and can be tailored to the specific condition and the time and facilities available.

They can also be used to improve performance.

Some techniques include:

  • Kinesio taping and Proprioceptive taping

  • Gymnasium exercises

  • Polework

  • Hydrotherapy

  • Long reining and lunging for the horse, this may include use of specialist equipment

  • Wobble cushions and physio balls to develop core strength in the dog

During the physiotherapy session I will discuss suitability of methods and demonstrate them clearly. You will be given a written plan to follow until your next session.

In most equine cases the remedial exercise plan will be integrated into your normal exercise routine. I will liaise with your usual trainer to achieve the full potential for your horse.
